TGV - rail travel in France
The TVG train is the fastest way to travel to more than 1,400 destinations in Europe.
With speeds of up to 320 km/hr, whether your destination is on the other side of France or beyond the borders you'll reach it in just a few hours, and with magnificent views of the French countryside.

Many of the TGV stations are architecturally outstanding - if you have time to go outside and look at the exteriors.
The Gare du NordMilano Centrale and Amsterdam Centraal are just a few of the network highlights.

Check-in and Boarding
All TGV train journeys must be reserved beforehand.
Most train tickets are available up to 60 days previously, or they can be reserved in the station before you board.
Also, make sure to validate your train ticket using the yellow stamp machines, or composteurs, on the platforms before you board the train.

Highlights of TGV Travel
Travel in style - Fashion king Christian Lacroix designed the interiors of the latest TGV trains, so you can expect to be impressed.

Double-decker Duplex Trains - On some routes the TGV Duplex trains offer an even better view of the countryside.

Comfort is a legend - Only the train goes at high speed while you travel in peace and quiet with your family and benefit from the comfort of large seats and all the services on board.

TGV offers three classes of service:

Tip 1:
Choose a Rail Pass if you're travelling more than twice, and you know the countries that you will be visiting. This is the cheapest way to make multiple journeys.

Choose a Point to Point Ticket  if you're taking only one or two journeys. You know the cities you are visiting, and you know what dates you will be travelling. Pay only for what you're using.

Tip 2:
Be sure to check the train timetable for departures before and after your ideal time.
The less popular the train times, the cheaper it will be.
